Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of tcmlhu.org and the services offered through it by the Taiwan Center for Mandarin Learning in Hungary (“TCML”, “we”, “us”), including membership, the Members’ Area, sign-in with Google, and registration for our courses and events. By using our website or registering for a course or event, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the website.

2. Using our website

You may use our website to learn about our courses, cultural activities and events, contact us, apply for membership and register for courses. When using the website, you agree not to:

• provide false or misleading information, or register on behalf of another person without their permission;
• attempt to gain unauthorised access to the website, other users’ accounts or our systems;
• interfere with the normal operation of the website, for example by sending spam or malicious code;
• use the website for any unlawful purpose.

3. Membership and the Members’ Area

• Membership is by application. We review each application and may approve or decline it at our discretion.
• Once approved, you receive a personal member account. Member accounts are for individual use only and may not be shared.
• You are responsible for keeping your login details confidential and for activity carried out under your account. Please tell us immediately if you suspect unauthorised use.
• We may suspend or close a member account if these Terms are breached. You may ask us to close your account at any time by emailing us.

4. Sign in with Google

Approved members may sign in with a Google account that uses the same email address as their TCML member account. Google sign-in is a login method only: it cannot be used to create a new account or to bypass the membership approval process. Your use of your Google account is also subject to Google’s own terms. How we handle the data received from Google is explained in our Privacy Policy.

5. Course and event registration

• Course and event details – including schedule, level, fee, age requirement, discounts and any course-specific conditions – are shown on each course or event page. Those details form part of your agreement with us.
• Prices are shown in Hungarian forint (HUF) unless stated otherwise.
• Payment is made online through our payment service providers (such as Airwallex or Stripe). Your registration is complete once the payment has been successfully processed.
• If you register a child for a children’s course, you confirm that you are the child’s parent or legal guardian, or are authorised by them.
• We may change teachers, classrooms or, where necessary, lesson times. We will inform you of any significant changes in advance.

6. Cancellations and refunds

• To cancel a registration, please notify us by email at tcmlhungary@gmail.com. We will confirm the cancellation by email.
• Refunds are handled according to the cancellation policy shown on the page of the course or event you registered for.
• If we have to cancel a course or event (for example due to insufficient enrollment), we will offer you an alternative course or a full refund of the amount paid.
• Approved refunds are paid back using the original payment method where possible.

7. Intellectual property

The content of this website and the materials we provide in our courses and in the Members’ Area (texts, images, videos, worksheets and other materials) are owned by TCML or used with permission. You may use them for your own personal, non-commercial learning. You may not copy, publish, sell or distribute them without our prior written consent.

8. Third-party services and links

Our website uses or links to third-party services, such as Google, payment service providers and social media platforms. We are not responsible for the content or practices of these third parties, and their own terms and privacy policies apply to your use of their services.

9. Availability and liability

We do our best to keep the website available and its information accurate and up to date, but we cannot guarantee that it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. To the extent permitted by law, TCML is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from the use of the website.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability where this cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, and nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

10. Privacy

We process personal data in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Please read our Privacy Policy to find out what data we collect and how we use it.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The latest version is always available on this page, with the date of the last update shown at the top. Changes do not affect registrations that have already been completed.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by Hungarian law. If you are a consumer, you also benefit from any mandatory consumer protection rules of the country in which you live. We encourage you to contact us first so that we can try to resolve any issue amicably.
